SKI TEAMS

2011-12 Alpine Ski Teams

Our Alpine ski teams are built on the foundation of inspiring a life-long passion for skiing, athletics and the mountain environment. Our programs start at the entry level and progress to top level training opportunities. Below is a detailed description of our offerings beginning with our entry level teams.

Cisco Kids and Boreal Bombers: a.k.a. the “ Gift of Skiing”

This entry level program is dedicated to providing an introductory experience to winter sports for the whole family.   Skiers and snowboarders as young as age 6 up to age 13 are accepted.  This team focuses on quickly building skills, learning about racing and learning to enjoy the mountain playground. The young athletes are divided by age and skill level into small groups with a coach and parent helpers.  Training is weekends on a pre-set schedule spread over the season from December through March.  If there is one word to describe what these kids do on the mountain it’s ski-ski-ski (or ride).  The team groups are always on the move and always having a blast.  The program is not a learn to ski/snowboard program. Cisco kids (entry level) must have already skied a few times.  Boreal Bombers must be able to link stem turns the length of a slope. Teaching young kids to ski and snowboard is a “gift” and the fundamental goal of this program.  Graduates from these teams progress into the All-Mt. Devo, Far West racing, Freestyle or Snowboard teams.

Cisco Kids: age 6-10, ski and Snowboard, 8 training days, includes a Boreal season pass, program dues $285 (ages 12 and under) excluding club membership.

Boreal Bombers: age 6-13, ski and snowboard, 15 training days, includes Boreal season pass, program dues $485 (ages 12 and under), $590 (age 13+) excluding club membership.

All-Mountain Devo Team

The team provides an “all mountain” experience.  Devo is short for development and that’s the aim of this team.  The advent of terrain parks, half-pipes and skier-cross has opened many new opportunities for skiers to experience the mountain.  Our goal is to combine all these new trends with gate training/racing and free-skiing to help skiers find a passion for their favorite discipline.  Emphasis will be on setting personal goals, building core skiing skills and confidence to ski everywhere on the mountain.  All-Mountain-Devo athletes will use video analysis to learn specific skills developed in the half-pipe, in the park, and on big mountain terrain.  Coaches will also guide team members in the basics of mountain safety and avalanche awareness.  Athletes can apply their skills to Tahoe League races as well as freeride and terrain contests.

All-Mt. Devo 1:  one weekend day, mirrors the Bomber schedule with 5 extra sessions, includes Boreal pass: program dues $785 (age 12 and under), $890 (age 13+) excluding club membership.

All-Mt. Devo 2: Sat., Sun. and Holiday’s, includes Boreal and Alpine Meadows pass: program dues $1370 (age 12 and under), $1570 (age 13+) excluding club membership.

Twilight Gates

This is a standalone mid-week gate training program at Boreal in the ASC race arena. This “all-comers” program is open to FW racers from other programs and ASC Varsity Ski/Snowboard team members. The only requirement is a desire to train hard in the gates.

With school and weekend races, gate training hours can be hard to find. This program fills that gap with quality, intense gate workouts under the lights in the ASC race arena with ASC coaches.   Skiers can jump right into courses at 4:00 pm, train hard until 6:30 pm and be home early.  Our dedicated hill lights, snowmaking, hill watering and our own grooming if necessary make this the best after school training venue in Far West…… bar none.  Training schedule begins as soon as snow allows. Sessions are Wednesday/Thursday, some Friday’s (for weather make-up) and continue through March.  Holiday period between Christmas and New Years not included.

Twilight Gates Ski: includes a Boreal night pass: $ 585 (all ages)

ASC Varsity ski/snowboard members:  $ 275 (in addition to Varsity dues)
