This weekend was another “where else but Auburn Ski Club “.
Conditions were clear, cold (as in very cold) and the snow was squeaky for the weekend’s activities. Saturday was another training day for the Super Sliders and Sonics’ teams. Saturday and Sunday ASC hosted the first Tahoe League Slalom of the 2013 season. More than 425 racers (ages 7-14+ ) competed this weekend totaling 850 race starts! A HUGE THANK YOU to all the ASC volunteers who stepped up, braved the cold and made the race happen. Our volunteers continue to uphold the tradition of ASC being the “best volunteer race crew in the west”.
Also this weekend the ASC Alpine Freestyle and Riders athletes were competing in a USASA Slopestyle just yards from the Tahoe League Slalom finish. Not to be left out the ASC Biathlon athletes had a range training session Sunday afternoon while the Tahoe League awards were happening on the deck.
Breaking news came over the weekend that three of ASC Riders, Ryan Stassel, Karly Shorr and Easton Gilman have been invited to a World Cup in Sochi Russia, site of the 2014 Winter Olympics! Wow, way to go and good luck.
Next up will be a CNISSF Skier/Snowboard Slalom AND CNISSF Cross Country race all on Friday. Then on Sunday a Far West Nordic Junior National Qualifier Cross Country Classic.
