Auburn Ski Club Training Center is currently seeking to fill the year-round position of Training Center programs manager. This new position will be key addition to our TC staff devoted to providing winter sports opportunities and athletic achievement to club members.

The snow may be gone but there are still ASC activities to let you know about. The ASC website will have details on all these events as they get closer.

Early June: The 2013-14 line-up of Training Center programs announced.

Mid-June to Labor day: Cross-country dry-land training program for Comp and Devo junior athletes. (details TBA soon)

June 27-30: Western Region Summer Biathlon Championships.

July 6^th: HUGE Outdoor Rep Sale in the ASC Training Center parking lot. Dozens of outdoor reps will be selling truck loads of samples at wholesale prices and these guys will have everything from hiking gear, XC skis, boots, clothing, Alpine gear, snowboards, backpacks and more. A percentage of sales benefit the ASC Training Center programs.

July 4^th: Firecracker mile. Minutes before the start of the Truckee 4^th of July parade ASC hosts this gravity fed race along the parade route in front of huge a cheering crowd.

August 3^rd. Squaw Valley Mountain Run. Another fundraiser for ASC.

TBA: Donner Summit Bike Challenge. 3.1 mile cycling time trial up old Hwy 40.

Have a great and fun spring. Before you know it you’ll be back to the long range weather sites looking for a prediction of an early winter.

Biathlon clinic and race on this weekend

Don’t summer wax those skis just yet! The snow coverage at ASC is still good and the last on-snow biathlon (yes, a 1.5K loop will be groomed) of the season is on for this weekend.

Saturday there will be an open range from 9am -11am, an introductory clinic from 10am to 12pm and a redbook certification from 1-2pm.

Sunday we will host a pro race starting at 10am (zero at 9am) and a youth/novice race starting at noon.

Trails Notes: We’ve just finished grooming tonight and trails will be open tomorrow. The season is quickly winding down but the skiing is still pretty good in the AM. Most of the blue trails are still open. Crater Lake is also open but tomorrow may be the last day we can get it groomed. Crater Lake (really a volcanic pond) is starting to turn back into a lake in the attached photo.

Saturday is the last day our XC trails will be open for the season. Enjoy it before it’s gone for 6 months.

Saturday is the last day of the operation at ASC-TC this season. It will also be our annual Spring Fling BBQ. There will be games for kids and we’ve just added Laser biathlon. The TC will be closed on Sunday.
