The ASC Snowboard team is currently at USASA Nationals in Copper Mt., Colo. The ASC Alpine Freestyle team will be at the same event later next week.

Trails closed for the season

The XC trails are now closed for the season. Thank you to everyone for a great season. Despite the lack of snow in the first half of the season all the shoveling and support from our trail pass members made it work. Next season will be great and we’re due now for an early season. Here is a little inspiration from a Long-board skier written more than 100 years ago to hold you over until the snow comes again.

THE SNOW-SHOE RACES

DOWN THE MOUNTAIN SIDE, LIKE BIRDS IN FLIGHT,

OR METEORS ON A STARRY NIGHT–

BENDING LOW TO MISS THE BREEZE,

FLYING PAST THE STATELY TREES,

RUSHING DOWN TO THE FLAT BELOW,

DANCING OVER THE “BEAUTIFUL SNOW”,

FALLING, ROLLING, SEEING STARS__

THEN HEAR THE LAUGHING CROWD’S HURRAHS.

Trails Notes: After an cloudy start today ended very warm and sunny. Snow conditions have turned spring-like very quickly. Conditions tomorrow will again be spring-like. Snow surface may be a little rough in spots. We had to “one-pass” most trails due to a pesky hydraulic leak. Standby for news about Crater Lake, hopefully open for the weekend.

Please remember to be off the snow by 4:30pm. In these spring conditions grooming must get started ASAP.

Trails Notes: Grooming is underway tonight. Conditions today were a little rainy with low clouds. Tomorrow should be spring-like, high temperatures will be in the high 40′s. Some of the Black Hole loops have been groomed, however, we have a few wind-fall trees to move before opening everything. We’ll start building the trail up to Crater Lake tomorrow, standby for that opening.

Trails close at 4:30pm sharp, please remember to be off the snow by then so grooming can get started,

Trails Notes: Turned out to be a bluebird day. The forecast for more snow just didn’t happen. Needless to say conditions are excellent. We are now starting to pack the Black Hole loop and will get it open soon. The Van Ever’s loop is now open for a good view.

Tomorrow is the re-scheduled Snowshoe Thompson Classic race. The course will be triple tracked. Start time 10am.
