ASC’s Junior Nordic Teams are training summer long & are enjoying a special treat this summer with the addition of a group of NCAA college skiers from the east coast. The brainchild of Martin Benes, Bates College Assistant Nordic Coach (and former ASC Team racer), athletes from Middlebury, Williams, Bates, and other schools are living and training out West with our junior athletes. Many of them are being hosted by the families of the juniors themselves.

Coach Mark Nadell recently, we caught up with one of their combined workouts, with the energy of 24 young nordic skiers running, drilling, and playing soccer showing that there truly is strength in numbers when it comes to summer training. As Middlebury’s Noah Brautigam remarked, “These guys might not realize what they have out here, but let me tell you, it’s one of the best places to train and live that I have ever seen.”

20-26 June 2011 – Three ASC Juniors- Austin Meng , Katrin Larusson, Jordan McElroy and Coach Kara LaPoint attended the Western Regional Elite Group (REG) Camp in Park City, Utah. Team members Alex Hamilton and Annika Taylor were both invited but were unable to attend.

Then, in early August (1-7, 2011) three ASC juniors Katrin Larusson, Bria Riggs, and Raylene Chew will be attending the National J2 Camp in Sun Valley, Idaho along with Mammoth’s Laurel Fiddler & Coach Nancy Fiddler

A new Junior Biathlon Team has also started training. Click here for details
